Three years ago our beautiful German Shepard Sasha passed away, a few months later to cheer us up we decided to get a new dog. We decided on a beagle after much deliberation and came across Lynda Havard's Annavah Beagles on the internet.
So it seemed at that time, that a litter of puppies was to be born. Once they were born, John and Sarah decided to take a trip up to Lincolnshire and take a look at the litter of beagle puppies. As all the females were already taken, we decided on one of the boys.
Olly
Around January 2003 a couple came to us looking to mate their beagle with Olly who was 2 years old by then. The next thing we knew, we were looking forward to a new addition to the family.
This time we wanted a girl and as there was only one tri coloured girl in the litter, Yasmin (who has almost identical markings to Olly) seemed the perfect choice.
Both their characters are completely different and they compliment each other wonderfully. Now we have a perfect companion for Olly and as all those Beagles owners know, Beagles are pack animals and need company. Two beagles are better than one!
NB: If any of you out there are thinking of getting a beagle for a pet, I think we have a responsibility to warn you that beagles are very dependent dogs and they won't be left on their own. The sound a beagle puppy makes when it is left on it's own is probably the most heartbreaking sound one could imagine. So unless you work at home, a beagle wouldn't be a good choice for a city dweller. |
